Right Tool for the Job
A packager of juice products and other food related items called Demsy to develop a method of acquiring data in order to minimize catastrophic failures and the burden of shutting lines down. Demsy examined the problem and determined that data acquisition could best be gathered by employing one of the more sophisticated technologies which provide a very early warning of incipient bearing failures. Once implemented the customer then followed recommendations from Redline and was able to schedule the maintenance when the machines needed it, eliminating the catastrophic failures.
At the end of the second year the mainline of concern had gone for over a year without a unplanned shut-down. This had never happened before.
The program is still in effect and the plant has never run better.
